Fireworks are like butter. They go with almost anything, and make it irresistibly more attractive. Twice a summer we get fireworks in San Francisco, with the first time being the annual Kaboom! Festival sponsored by radio station KFOG. The fireworks placement on Pier 32 makes it very close to the San Francisco Bay Bridge.

Even though this view from Treasure Island of the finale is partly obscured by foreground trees, I love the simple symmetry of the flares at their peak behind the bridge tower. It’s not my usual landscape imagery, but at least it’s outdoors and includes plants. I’ll take it.
