Beach Foam Sunset 2 - Post-storm sunset light reacting with Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands just north of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. February 17, 2011.

From a February 2011 shoot at Marin County’s Rodeo Beach.  The light of sunset reflected off the post-storm waves churning along the coast.  This image was selected for the 2011 Emeryville Art Exhibit held October 1 – 23 at 1480 64th St in Emeryville. Two other images from the same visit are available online in my Abstracts Gallery on Smugmug.com.

In January of 2008, Northern California was pounded by three days of heavy Pacific Storms.¬† When they cleared, I drove to Rodeo Beach in the headlands – mostly just to get out of the house and give my family a break from me.¬† Post-storm waves broke in every direction, providing shorebirds with plenty of opportunity to feed near them.¬† Nervous beach walkers kept an eye on the undulating ocean and the uncertain high water mark.¬† As soon as I set up my tripod on “safe” ground away from the waterline, four inches of water washed over my boots.
